Patrick named East Division Star of the Week; Yakovlev is second star

The North American Hockey League announced its Divisional Stars of the Week for week ending February 19 and Rebels forward Ryan Patrick was named the East Division’s Star of the Week while teammate Evgeny Yakovlev was selected as second star.

Patrick had five points during this past weekend’s sweep over the Northeast Generals. He had an assist in Friday night’s win while he had two goals and two assists in Saturday night’s victory. The former Culver Academy star has nineteen points on the season for the Rebels (7 goals and 12 assists).

“Ryan has progressed consistently all year” stated Rebels head coach Joe Coombs. “He plays an important part and role on our team. He kills penalties and plays a 200-foot game. It’s nice to see him get recognized for it. He should only keep getting better” concluded Coombs.

Patrick becomes the fifteenth Rebel to be recognized for either a weekly or monthly league honor.

Yakovlev had three points (all assists) in Saturday night’s victory. The Belgorod, Russia native is seventh on the Rebels in points.  He has a total of 33 points (10 goals and 23 assists).  This is the second time this season Yakovlev was named second star of the week (January 8). He also was named honorable mention for week ending November 5, 2016. Yakovlev will be one of six Rebels to represent the team during next week’s Top Prospect Tournament.
